Grow 1 & 2.

Orbea 2012

Being original is not returning to the source.

To be original is to be the source.
Ten years later, a survey of major Orbea distributors reveals that … despite they still think B&G (temporarily in the web site) is a right product, it is perhaps we feel it’s a good time to revise it towards a new generation of kids vehicles that responds to the demands of nowadays.
GROW is a bike designed along with the idea of making a simple, light and quality vehicle to make it easier to ride and learn to ride a bike; but GROW is also designed with a consciousness of the need for durable, quality items, industrially and socially sensitive to what we need to change to better our environment; in this case, using ideas, designs, solutions and facts.
This light and high quality aluminum bicycle has an adjustable seat, handle and also adjusts the length of the frame.
Because the bicycle grows in size, it can be used by the same child for twice the time; using 1 bike instead of 2.5. The advantage of GROW, apart from reduced economical and ecological costs along the whole of its life cycle, is a much better ergonomic adjustment for the user. Kids often ride a too small or too big bike for quite a long time which is not healthy.

The Orbea Grow have been awarded by the FAD with the Gold Delta Award; the most prestigious design award in Spain. The FAD have been awarding one object each two years since 1961.
The Orbea Grow bicycle have been recognized because the sustainable values and design also internationally. The chicago Athnaeum of architecture and design, one of the most prestigious and oldest design institution, recognized Orbea Grow with the GOOD DESIGN AWARD. This award have been created by Eeros Saarinen, Charles and Ray Eames, and Edgar Kaufmann in 1950, and since then it have been awarding the best designs around the world year per year.

The GROW project has carried out various legal procedures to cover the intellectual property of the product, but the option of making a growing bicycle have an open source vocation.
